The Office of Polar Programs, National Science Foundation (NSF), has released the 2008 Antarctic Research solicitation (NSF 08-535; http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5519&org=ANT&from=home) for support of projects in Antarctica during the 2009-2010 austral summer or projects in the United States beginning in early 2009. Unlike previous Antarctic Research solicitations, this year there are two proposal submission deadlines. The first, 2 May 2008, is for proposals for research aboard the Swedish icebreaker Oden during November and December 2008. The second deadline, 6 June 2008, is for all proposals for antarctic work other than work on the Oden during November and December 2008.
